A Trip to the Greenmarket

A few weeks ago, we walked to the Union Square greenmarket to pick up the first produce of Spring--the market was awash in ramps, in addition to asparagus, mesculin greens, and rhubarb.

As we navigated through the morning crowd, Sherman did his best to dodge shuffling tennis shoes, old lady carts, and strollers. Hands would occasionally reach out and pat him on the head in passing. At one point, a young boy tottered his way over to get a better look at Sherman (what was this furry creature?) The boy's mom crouched down and the two politely stroked Sherman's head. Sherm offered his paw to shake and the boy held it--this soft, freckly foot, not much smaller than his own soft hand.
